“Bane” of my existence :)
A friend of mine test drove one of these last weekend. The dealer experience was jerky and the interior materials turned him off, so no-go. But he said it drove well.

wow! The color really pops in those pics! I really want to know how much difference there is really b etween the GT RWD and AWD outside the track. Hopefully you can get to test both sometime back to back altough some other reviewers have said RWD is more f un, obviously . I have only driven the RWD version so far.
Also, I am no English major but shouldn’t it be “ Bane of my existence ” instead of “ Bain of my existence”? And it’s interesting because you said Venom in the title and Tom Hardy has played both Venom and Bane in films...but I digress.

How is the rear leg room? It looks comfortable in the pics, but I’m always amused (in a bad way) by the lack of space in back in some full size cars *ahem* Dodge Charger

Haha yeah, I missed that one on edit. That’s what I get for writing reviews after long days at work.

I would call it q uite decent. The style might lead to a slight issue for people with taller torsos but at 5"11" it was no problem to sit back there.

I fixed it. I’m assuming the AWD is just going to have more bite but will definitely not be as much fun.

I fixed it. Like I said, that’s what I get for writing a review after a miserably long day at work.
I thought most of the interior materials were fine, but as I said int he review, definitely enough were not that it did turn me off a bit.
Also, the dealer is where the “It’s a Kia” definitely applies still.

At around 50K, the interior materials game gets a little competitive - I wonder how a GT2 inside compares to a base 30K model. Same trim? This is something the lux Hyunkias have struggled with, I think. They might need to step that up a little, it can’t cost a fortune.
My friend in question drives a Lincoln MKZ hybrid, he actually bought (not leased) new, and he’s only around 40, so he’s pretty open-minded to offbeat choices, but for the price (dealer sticking to full MSRP) and having this experience when even the Lincoln dealer at least tries to be premium, he couldn’t see it. I like the car, but it has a tough row to hoe - maybe used bargain in 3 years if they hold up.

It is a very unbiased review... really great!

It’s easy to be unbiased with the Kias. People probably think I totally carry water for ToyMoCo which is fair, but the Prius review should even that all out nicely. We’ll see if they let me have another one after that publishes .

I think the Kia sort of divides opinion. Some have an odd fascination by it because it is a very wierd car, but on the other hand others are less than impressed and sour from all the years of KIA’s shitty cars.
They better give you another Toyota,
I hope you get a Supra!

I don’t worry about people space since car seats seems to require more room to be correct than humans need to be comfortable. So I am very interested to hear how rear seat space is. One nice thing is that head room is very low on the list of concerns.

iirc the awd one doesn’t have an LSD. if you want an AWD wait for the facelift, I read that they’re testing a clever decoupling diff, like merc’s 4matic+

Is this what you’re referencing? if so should be good

Yeah
I’m happy about RWD, but then again where I live it doesn’t snow and weather is mostly tame (climate change, you better not make me eat my words)

They are definitely in a weird spot right now. It’s quite interesting to see what will happen. I think it all starts at the dealer though.

yeah... i got a totally different experience here than what people describe in the US...
